"On a two lane road through the mountains I am taking the corners too fast..."

So, it has happened... I have started a blog. Again... hopefully I learned my lesson the last time. So people who end up following me or reading this... please keep me accountable for things that I write on here.

So, first off my space bar apparently hates me all the sudden and only is working about half of the time... its driving me nuts. So we will see how long using this computer last... Michael should really look at this, but it was working earlier... Ok so I switched to the mini, because a space bar is important!

Ok. First things first... My intention with re-joining the blogging world is because (1) at least 4 people have asked me in the last week if I have blog and (2) I'm starting my internship next Saturday. Hopefully I will be able to get on every once and a while to update the lovely people in my life about what I am doing! My second intention is to make a photo journal. Most of you know that I love to take pictures! I have really gotten out of the habit and I don't know why... I mean I leave in the beautiful Western NC and I don't take enough pictures... it is a sad day. So I want to start uploading at least one picture with each post of something from that day or maybe within the week. Since I am just starting this and I really have nothing to do until I go to PA I might do some back tracking and catching you guys up on other things that happened through out the semester. I have some amazingly funny pictures from this semester that I would love to relive well I still have time. :]

That paragraph leads me into two different things that I want to talk about tonight! One is the internship and the other is the picture at the beginning of this post (start of the photo journal! Look at me go!)

Let's talk internship!
Some of you know that this summer I will be working at Mount Lawn Camp in Bushkill, PA. For those of you who (like me) don't know anything about PA, Bushkill is in the Pocono Mountains and apparently a very pretty area. I'm sure that it is... but I will let you know when I get there... hopefully. Yes you read that right... I will hopefully be able to tell you. In the contracts that we received and the orientation packet we got it says very clearly that we will be very disconnected this summer. It mentions that we are able to bring our own personal computers and cell phones, but we are only allowed to use them on our days off. This is going to be a challenge for me because I don't think my computer and I have spent more than 8 hours away from each other since I bought it... I mean really it is attached to my hip. It's bad... but also great! I mean I love having a computer, but it will be nice to stay away from it. I am hoping that on my days off there might be a way to get off camp grounds and explore the town, but I'm going to have to make friends for that to happen because... I won't have a car. I know another thing... some things that I have never really not had since I was a junior in high school... Well I didn't have one for 4 months at SMC, but anyway. It is kind of great though. Not having a cell or Internet or even a car.
So here is my theory on the whole lack of communication thing - I remember my freshman year at SMC when I was just a little scared... because I was a freshman and did not know anyone. But I remember leaving the auditorium from something that was happening for orientation... and this happened several times because there was a lot of in and out of there, but every time I walked the twenty steps to my Resident Hall (sorry for the mix up earlier Stay!) everyone was on their cell... talking to who knows who. But it made people hard to talk to because they were already talking to someone else. (Which SMC Staff if you are reading this... you can't really change that I understand). So making friends those first couple of nights were a little hard because of the cellphone. However, when I went to Gaitlinburg with the middle school kids from Montreat Pres (I love that place) they were not allowed to have any thing electronical... which is a great way to help people bond. So I am completely confident that one of the reasons that this is going to be a hard, yet amazing time is the fact that I can't text my bff Jill (I don't know anyone named Jill PS) during training when something is not going my way... I LOVE IT!
Ok... so you are probably wondering what I will actually be doing at this camp... unfortunately I can't completely tell you... I know that I will be a camp counselor, but I honestly don't know what they mean by that. So we will see... I mean obviously I have to maintain a Christ-like presents to inner-city kids from NY. I'm pretty excited... and scared. I really want to explain how all of this came about, but for now I think I'm going to stop with internship stuff. I will leave it on this note - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjBksU9PitQ - this is the link to the promo for camp. Watch it... and keep checking back because there will be more talk of the internship in the next couple of days.

So, the other thing that I wanted to talk about in this blog is the picture above! So naturally... most of you know that my family... mainly my brother is a tad obsessed with Lego. Yes I know - he is 31 and still likes Lego, but we have learned to embrace the nerdyness and roll with it. Also we occasionally like to join in. This past weekend the fam to a vaca to beautiful Raleigh, NC... for the grand opening of the Lego store... yes. The opening of the the Lego store. It was insane... they had a master builder and you could "help" him build a Yoda that is taller than most normal people. Along with Yoda, you could stand in line for at least 2 hours just to get in the store... yes 2 hours just to get in the store. And then once you are in the store you can't move around and basically you stand in line for about another hour. Wow. Nerds. They did a lot of business this weekend. The police were hanging out and everything. It was insane! They have a thing called pick-a-brick there and you can fill up cups with Lego bricks that are on the wall the picture is the inside of one of the container things that hold the Lego.

Well, it is getting kinda late... and the mini is going to die soon. So I am off - but check back sometime soon... I promise I will update soon because I have nothing better to do.
